Am I supposed to guess the event date or the photo date?

The photo date. While most photos are from the same year as a relevant event, some might not be and might be one or two years off. We try to avoid this as much as possible but it’s not always possible.

In some cases we might use a photo of a newspaper that talks about a specific event, in that case you are guessing the date of the newspaper and therefore the date of the event.

In future we are planning to have some specific games that are about guessing an event date, for example movie poster releases.

I found an error on a photo. What should I do?

Photo date inaccuracies are common. If you believe you found a mistake you can fill out this form and we will review your report and correct the error.

I want to contribute to events. How can I do that?

You can use this form, we will review the event and add it to the game.

Where do you get events from?

We use events from various sources, including newspapers, internet websites and multiple books related to each topic.

We are still a small group of people working in their free time so we can’t guarantee that all events are perfectly tagged or that there are no errors in the dates.

How do you select the events?

We hand pick all the events and photos while trying to balance different criterias such as relevance, photo quality, that are interesting to play and share while having a uniform distribution between the different dates. Some events are more popular while some others are not as much. We believe that’s fine, at the end you can learn something new and share it with your family and friends!

There is a date in a photo

In general that’s ok. We do not remove photos with dates, part of the game is exploring the photo, find a hint of when it happened and make your guess.
